How to care for leather
High-quality leather products can be used beautifully for a long time with proper care.
Natural leather develops a deeper texture as it is used, growing into a unique expression all its own.
Here, we introduce daily care methods.
1. Daily Care
Routine care is very simple.
-
Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
-
Remove dust and dirt.
-
Store in a well-ventilated area.
Even this alone can keep the leather in good condition.
2. Moisturizing with Leather Cream
Since leather is a natural material, it can become stiff if it dries out.
Regular use of leather cream moisturizes the leather and keeps it in beautiful condition. We use Jewel's Mink Oil (https://jewelweb.jp/products/261/).
Instructions
-
Remove surface dirt with a soft cloth.
-
Apply a small amount of leather cream to a cloth.
-
Apply thinly and evenly.
-
Lightly buff with a dry cloth.
※A small amount of cream is sufficient.
3. If the leather gets wet in the rain
Leather is a material that is vulnerable to water.
If it gets wet, please care for it using the following method:
-
Gently wipe away moisture with a dry cloth.
-
Avoid direct sunlight and hair dryers.
-
Allow to air dry in a well-ventilated area.
After it is completely dry, moisturizing with leather cream will help maintain a better condition.
4. Storage Method
If you will not be using it for an extended period, the following methods are recommended:
-
Avoid direct sunlight.
-
Avoid high temperatures and humidity.
-
Insert paper or similar material to prevent distortion.
5. Leather Aging (Patina)
The charm of natural leather lies in how its texture changes with use.
-
The color deepens.
-
Increased luster.
-
Becomes soft and conforming to the hand.
This is a unique characteristic of genuine leather and one of the joys of using it for a long time.
Finally
British Bag's leather products grow more charming the longer they are cherished.
Please enjoy the aging process of your leather while having fun with daily care.
